Driving used to be an offline activity, but because of the smart tech evolution, cars are now completely connected to our lives. Due to this shift in expectations, we needed to produce digital products that would work seamlessly between vehicles and devices.

Strategy
Using service design methodology, we had to weave a unified experience throughout everything we were creating. It had to come from a single source of truth so that all products could be cut from the same cloth. This is where our Design System, “Flow” was born.
Our goal for this project was to create a fully comprehensive Design System. We needed a space where remote designers and developers could access useful resources and guidelines to help them quickly create on-brand digital products.

We created a governance model to improve how communication and collaboration operate between all project stakeholders.
This model allowed ŠKODA to make the delivery of digital products more efficient in terms of cost and time. It was designed to clearly communicate to all stakeholders where responsibilities are actioned and located.
We also created the Flow Pipeline, a technical solution using design tokens that act as a bridge between design and development, making changes and communication faster than ever.
The project began by aligning the brand values with our shared digital experience. We then created a common language of reusable UI components and guidelines that could be easily accessed by remote digital workers.
ŠKODA current library comprises over a thousand different styles and components, spanning 3 different environments and multiple products.
Now, creating digital products has become quicker than ever thanks to reducing time spent on coding and redesign work.
